The artists of the secessionist artist colony of Gödöllő were experimenting to paint natural twine with plant based pain, for this reason they started to grow plants in their garden which can be used to paint. We would like to revive the tradition of plant based paintings, in our studio you can color wool and cotton twine with dye plants. Goldenrod, onion peel and marigold provide us the brightest yellow color, Indian madder is responsible for pink, besides that the participants can paint the different shades of green and brown. Furthermore in our workshop you can learn how to create skeins and how to marinate, also you will get familiar with three different types of twine painting techniques. We grow a part of those plants in our garden which we need to paint by ourselves, we use the already painted twine as a weft.
